The Dr. Perricone Diet

Dr. Nicholas Perricone MD, FACN is a certified clinical and research dermatologist, he has won numerous awards including the Eli Whitney award for his contributions to science and the Perricone diet. Perricone was also the recipient Lecture Award for his, dedication and contributions towards advancing "Complementary and Alternative Medicine". He has published a number of books on his unique methods, the Perricone diet make a number of claims, including wrinkle free skin and permanent weight loss. Amongst his books the most popular are The Perricone Promise, The Perricone prescription and The wrinkle cure.

Perricone believes he has found one of the major factors which causes aging, he recommends that by changing your diet, using supplements and his line of skin care products it can be treated. Dr Perricone arrived at the conclusion that cellular inflammation could be the cause of wrinkles. The inflammation he speaks about is not visible to the human eye; he believes this to be a microscopic irritation in the cells which in turn could lead to cellular damage. Perricone believes that using his methods of treating the inflammation it can be stopped and even reverse damage already done.

The Dr. Perricone Diet 3-Tier Philosophy

Dr Perricone has designed a three tier program of eating an inflammatory diet, taking the right supplements and applying anti aging topical skin care. He believes by doing this it will control the inflammation. Perricone also believes that inflammation plays a major role not only in the aging process, but also conditions and diseases such as, diabetes, Alzheimer's and arthritis.

Tier one- an anti-inflammatory diet

3 day diet

Wake Up

  • 2 cups romaine lettuce with 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil & lemon juice

Before Bed

  • 2oz sliced chicken breast (home cooked not prepacked)
  • 4 raw hazelnuts
  • 1/2 green apple

The Dr Perricone diet is a life style change, it is not meant as a quick fix for losing weight.
